The Elephant
Sanctuary
The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee offers a natural habitat
refuge for old, sick or needy African and Asian elephants. Its
2,700 acres in Hohenwald, Tennessee provide a better life for
elephants no longer wanted by zoos or the circus. Here elephants
are cared for in a natural environment without the demand to
be on display or performed forced labor. You do have the option
to watch them in real time on your computer through the "Elecam."
If you believe elephants deserve a better life, lend your support
to The Elephant Sanctuary.
Mercy
Corps
Mercy Corps is an organization that has the expertise and experience
to make a real difference in disaster situations, such as the
current crisis in the Louisana and Mississippi. They come in
and employ those in the area in the mission of clearing the devastation
and rebuilding. A full 92% of the money you donate goes directly
to help those in need, and unusually efficient use of resources.
Operation
Uplink
This group provides phone cards to military personnel and hospitalized
veterans so that they can call home. You may request a card for
yourself or someone esle, or make a generous donation so that
a serviceperson in a tough situation overseas or trapped in a
hospital bed will get to brighten their day with a call to loved
ones.
Heifer
International
Your donation provides livestock, such as rabbits, goats, sheep
and water buffalo to give those in need the opportunity to help
themselves and their villages become self-sustaining. Consider
giving an animal or share of an animal in the name of a loved
one. This is definitely the gift for those who have everything...and
care about helping the less fortunate. Be especially generous
and give an Ark of 15 pairs of animals to make the world a better
place (hint: The Ark makes an excellent project for conscientious
individuals, community and church groups). View
Gift Catalog.

in other lands and the joy that comes from personally helping
to make the world a better place.
Room
to Read
Room to Read gives you the opportunity to build and dedicate
a school in Nepal or Vietnam. Incredibly, many individuals and

effect on generations of children.
